Site Launch

Hobbyist and consumer 3D printer design is a complex, multi-disciplinary endeavor that suffers from a historical lack of engineering rigor. Over the roughly ten years of open source 3D printer development to date, an enormous amount of discovery and invention has occured… but most of this knowledge is poorly-documented in forum posts and trapped in the heads of veteran designers and users.

The purpose of this site is to explain and catalog printer engineering principles. Planned content:

  • List of useful design formulas and calculator/simulator links
  • Blog posts on specific printer engineering subjects of interest
  • Link to noteworthy 3D printing books (including my own) and other technical resources.
